Picasa
Picasa isn’t really a Web app because you have to download and install it on your computer. But it is free - and it’s a powerful photo management tool for organizing, editing and sharing your photos. Picasa catalogs new photos when you download them to your computer and keeps an up-to-date, searchable database. With Picasa, you can easily send perfectly sized photos by e-mail. You can also create gift CDs of photos that are displayed as slide shows. Printing from Picasa is quick and easy, too.
Flickr
Now that you’ve got those 5,672 photos organized, you could share them through Picasa Web Albums, but I prefer Flickr, a great online photo management and sharing tool. Flickr is huge photo community, with groups that share photos and lots of interesting photos to find as well. Many people share their photos using Creative Commons licenses that allow you to use their photos as long as you give them an attribution and fulfill the license requirements. You can make your own photos private (only people you invite can see them) or public (anyone can see them).
Do you have an online organizational tool to share, too? Please add a comment and share your discovery. There’s always something else that needs organizing!
