Quaking Aspen Offers Beautiful Late Winter Flowers and Early Spring
In central Massachusetts, late February and March can be stormy and bleak. But keep a sharp eye and you will see signs of spring. One such surprise that Karen and I found on a February 25, 2008 walk was the fuzzy gray flowers on a Quaking Aspen.

Notice the pointed, shiny leaf bud between the two emerging flowers at the left end of the twig.
